Another FABULOUS fetish shoot...

I had another phenomenal latex shoot with the fabulous Gary Heller!  He is such a talent and it is such a pleasure to be part of the team along with Masae who is about as amazing as any hair stylist can be (she is also a fire eater, belly dancer AND color therapist, PHEW!).

This time around we shot the STUNNING and infamous Darenzia.
I had the pleasure or picking Darenzia up and driving her from the city to Gary's studio in Brooklyn.  It was so nice to get to know her.  She is an incredibly sweet and extremely intelligent lady.
Once we got to Gary's, Darenzia took out her crazy beautiful outfits and we began to pick and choose what we thought would look the best.  Masae, who has awesome(!!!) style really studies the clothing and you can see her mind working as to what would be best.  We chose three outfits and DAMN were they the ones to choose :D  I'm only going to be going over the makeup and looks for the first one, but PLEASE take a look at the rest, either on my website at www.juliadaltonbrush.com or on my facebook.

The first outfit we chose was a latex bra/panties getup.  Absolutely gorgeous with a 50's/60's pinup feel to it.

Givenchy is God!

OK- so the world knows I love love love most any beauty products.  Even the craptastic ones are fun to open and try... but when I get one that STOPS ME IN MY TRACKS, there is nothing left in the world to do but shout it out to the world, to my blog and to ANYONE who will listen to me!

I was on set for a Target shoot a few weeks back and saw the amazing, beyond talented Gregg Brockington whip out this Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes mascara and... well, I stopped dead in my tracks and just watched.  I mean this thing looks CRAZY!  The applicator is right out of some crazy Gladiator movie but what it does makes your heart skip a beat and then beat twice to make sure you don't miss a moment in life now that you've seen this product.

This applicator reaches EVERYWHERE.  There is no lash too big, small or hiding that can't be reached.  Plus, as I have been playing with it, there are numerous ways to apply this mascara and all have incredible, but slightly different looks!

Ok- so, I never do this, but I was feeling a little spunky with makeup playing energy so I just threw on the Givenchy Penomen'Eyes on one eye and another mascara on the other...
They were quick applications, but even with that, you can see the difference (excuse the yikes brows, threading appointment manana):
Givenchy eye

Product X eye

Now, my application was QUICK!  But, even with a fast app, it is evident how phenomenally different Givenchy eye is Vs. X-product.

Mascara - to me- is the one makeup you shouldn't leave the house without applying.  It helps brighten your eyes, makes you look more awake and just adds a little "OOMPH" to your day.  Well, this mascara cannot be beat, as Givenchy so truly says on their website "Its innovative new design and high-precision application method will make all existing mascaras a thing of the past"

BUY THIS PRODUCT!  We all know you are probably LONG overdue for a new mascara, the questionable one sitting in your makeup bag is probably MONTHS beyond it's expiration, so when you go get a new one... GET. THIS. ONE.

Rodan + Fields Micro-Dermabrasion Paste

I have always been a fan of Rodan + Fields products, many of you may know of their product Proactive.  I used it years ago in high school I believe and it was like a magic potion.  Well, they have done it again and I was able to try two of their awesome products.  I will be blogging about each product separately.

But, first, let me backtrack.  I first met the wonderful Marnie Momsen through one of my bff's.  This made me a bit nervous because I always love receiving products to blog about, but I don't usually have a personal connection with the person sending.  I told Marnie from the get go that I would love to write up her product, but that I will write a 100% honest review so that if I didn't like it I would have to write it.  She sent it to me anyhow and now I know why...

At first try the Rodan + Fields Enhancements Micro-dermabrasion Paste is like a grainy paste, it came out kind of clumpy and it made me nervous that I was going to put this on my face without any water.
When first putting it on it felt almost like the old candy pop rocks... it was kind of cool!!!  Rubbing it in it felt good, like my face was getting a really good clean.  I have tried millions of other products that feel kind of like this when applying/washing.  But the real surprise came once I washed the paste off.  My face hadn't felt this amazing in I can't remember how long.  My skin felt as soft as my daughter's, it was amazing and it wasn't something that only lasted a few minutes, it felt the same way the next day... ALL DAY LONG!  It not only felt better to the touch, it felt better, well, as skin just sitting on my face.  It was replenishing.
Since I only got a sample of the product (I used it four times), I really wanted to investigate and look into what other people were saying.  The reviews are amazing.  People who are using this product are saying that it lightens brown discoloration in the skin, that their skin has never felt so soft and that it smells delicious (which I can attest to, a nice, light citrusy smell)... however it is not for sensitive skin (it is micro-dermabrasion!).

Here is one of the packets I used.
So, now that I have said everything in the world that is amazing about this product (bc pretty much everything about this product is amazing)... there is one downside (But , an upside to the downside), it is a little pricey... that being said, you don't need to use a lot of it to make it work so it LASTS!  I made a small packet last two times.

So, I would give this a CERTAIN
AAAAAmazing rating!
To purchase this product, or any of the other amazing Road + Fields products, please visit Marnie's site at http://momsen.myrandf.com and order or to go directly to this product click here!!!

I will be writing up my review of Rodan + Field's anti-aging night renewing serum SOON.  So stay tuned!

BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER

(I thought I'd grab your attention with with pic --->)

OK- KO, I know.  I have not been here for a while.  But that is only because I have been crazy with work and haven't had time to really deeply try any new products... that is why I am changing around the plan for this blog a bit.  I will still ABSOLUTELY do reviews and tips.  BUT, I am also going to start writing up my shoots and brides and all that fun stuff.  Good news alert!!!  In doing that I will also be posting some of what I did on the models/clients!!!

Sooooo... that being said, I will start with my amazing shoot that I had last week with the awesome Gary Heller.  I first noticed Gary's work on model mayhem and saw what a true talent he is and how creative his photographs were.  When I contacted him, he let me know that he had started shooting a lot of fetish/latex models... yup, you heard me right.  I thought 'how cool'  that is something I have not worked on before, so I emailed him right back and said 'I'm in!'
We shot with a model by the name of Kerri Taylor and had an incredible hair stylist by the name of  Masae Cathy Satouchi.
Here are few images from our shoot

In this photo Masae worked her hair magic by using some amazing hair tools that she made herself.  We kept the makeup a little more timid so not to compete with the hair or the outfit.  Though the Makeup Forever lashes we used were gorgeous.

These latex outfits are NO JOKE!
For these two photos I got to play around a little more.  Use some slightly darker colors with a little more shimmer.  I mainly used Inglot's pigments on her eyes by wetting my brush and applying it.  It came out beautifully.

In general I love working with great teams, but this one was especially fun.  Really good energy, really great talent all if good fun for great pics!

I hope that everyone is having a beautiful day and please stay tuned for my blog post on Rodan +Field's products that I have tested.

YIKES, IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!

Gosh ya'll, I'm so sorry that it has been about two weeks since the last post.  Fashion week WIPED ME OUT!
I will have more posts coming this week, not to worry.
Fashion week was a blast.  I had a bunch of private clients and Brush Beauty got to bring a team to the amazing Tom Ford presentation debuting his women's line.  We did the male grooming and it was fabulous!
Beside that I went to a seminar at Makeup Forever today where the amazing Orlando Santiago showed us two of the looks he did for fashion week shows.  He is a genius and the seminar was wonderful.

I hope that everyone had an amazing fashion week and that everyone is having an amazing weekend.

MAKEUP FOREVER: Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

Let’s get one thing straight, when Makeup Forever debuts a new line, they do it full force and they do not mess around.  I had actually purchased two of their Rouge Artist Intense colors a few weeks ago while in their boutique, to be honest I hadn’t had time to really try it out by the time the launch party came around.  Walking into the launch party, I was beautifully amazed by how many shades there were (50!!!).  I was in perfect lipstick heaven.
The shades go as follows:
1-8 are the matte shades
Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense colors
9-21 are  the pearly shades (shimmer)
22-50 are the satin shades

What they say: “Formulated with 50% more pigment than the traditional lipstick, Rouge Artist Intense gives an immediate true-to-color result. A blend of three natural waxes, the creamy texture glides on effortlessly for a long-lasting hold. The extensive color and texture range provides unlimited creativity.
What I say:  These lipsticks are AMAZING.  They are seriously pigmented and glide on like Scott Hamilton did on ice (or for you younger readers Johnny Weir). The application of the lipsticks are incredible and, while at the party, I was told that it is key for Rouge Artist Intense to apply a balm as your basecoat before applying the lipstick.  Now, this is something I do in general when applying lipsticks just because I like the feel better and think it makes most lipsticks last longer, but that is key for these.  Also, I would say that for colors 1-21 you absolutely need the balm to have these lips glide on as nicely as the satin (22-50).
The beauty of Rouge Artist Intense is that because they are so heavily pigmented there are so many things that you can do with them.  The heavy pigment also leads to long lasting color.  As far as application you can either put it on directly from the tube to your lips, you can tap it on with your finger for a lighter color and look or you can use your lip brush for an in between color.  They also layer beautifully.  Last night was date night (YESSS!) and  I wanted a nice muted color with a light pop.  So, I used #22  which is a nude color (comparable, color wise, to MAC’s Myth) and I layered #12 on top, a beautiful light purple shimmer color.  It looked absolutely beautiful.  Tomorrow night I have a fabulous magazine launch party and will be wearing either #40 or their fabulous Moulin Rouge color (which if you purchase before sept 15th a portion of the money goes to the Beauty Bus Foundation, see Sephora’s site for details) for a big pop of color.

So, on my new AMAZING rating system: (from Amazing to AAAAAmazing), I would have to give the satin shades a AAAAAmazing and the matte and pearly a AAAAmazing!  Truly wonderful.  So many colors to choose from, it should not matter what look you are going for, what skin tone you have or what style of lipstick you wear (matte, pearly or satin), you will find something that matches you and your style perfectly.

Inglot's AMC Lip Paint, oh how I love thee...

So, if you know me you probably know that if I become obsessed with a product you will hear about it for weeks if not months (and sometimes even years!).
Well, if I haven't professed my love to you about Inglot's Lip Paint, prepare for me to talk your ear off about it.  I know for a fact I have not gotten through a single shoot, private client session or discussion on makeup without talking about Ingot's Lip Paint.  To be honest, I generally make someone try it if I can.

There TRULY is nothing bad I can say about the product.  Inglot is a makeup company out of Poland who only came to the US earlier this year.  In this past year it has blown up!  It only has one store in NYC (48th & Broadway), but I would not be surprised to see them start popping up all over.

Let's do a check list for the Lip Paint:
1) Is the application easy, CHECK
2) Does it have staying power, CHECK
3) Does it feel nice, CHECK
4) Does it smell amazing, CHECK
5) Is it inexpensive, CHECK

The lip paint comes in a small 'jar' as you can see from the photo below.  To use it, you can either use your finger or a lip brush.  Whatever floats your boat.  For me, I like to use a brush, but if I am out and don't have one around, my finger works just as well.  The staying power is fabulous.   That is not to say that you can eat, drink and talk and not have to reapply, it is just to say that it has staying power.  This Lip Paint feels and smells amazing.  It almost conditions your lips while on.  It feels a little creamier than one of my other favorite products in the world, Rosebud Salve, but it has beautiful color too (20 colors to choose from, my favorite is 63).  And, the price tag, is around $12. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE AMAZINGNESS OF THIS PRODUCT.
Ok- sorry, just had to get that out of my system.  :D

The AMC lip paint is also paraben free and not tested on animals!

The downside, you can only purchase it in their stores - not even online.  Also, if you do not like a glossy looking lip color (not shiny, just what you would expect from a non-matte product), then this may not be the product for you.  You may want to look into their lipsticks which I don't know as well, but will be reviewing in the next few months (so, if you go that route, let me know what you think!).
That being said, it is well worth the trip for this fabulous and inexpensive makeup line.
I hope that everyone is enjoying this day and looking forward to the next post.
Hugs and kisses to all,

Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ÉCLAT RADIANT TOUCH

Have you ever had a morning where you wake up and you feel tired, worn out or –GASP- hungover?  Did you have YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT RADIANT TOUCH?  If not, then you probably went out looking tired, worn out or – GASP- hungover.  YSL Touche Éclat is an amazing miracle of a highlighter.  Most people that use it know to put it at the corners of your eye, down the center of your nose and on your brow bone.  But, there are quite a few other places on your face that it really highlights well.

1)    Use it in the inner corner of your eye above the tear duct (socket area), that will brighten your whole eye, making it seem more open and taking away darkness in that area.

2)    Use it lightly on your nasal labial fold, those are the lines that go from your nostril to the outer corner of your mouth aka smile lines

3)    Use it in the hollow of your chin

Basically, it can also brighten up where shadows show the most, like your smile lines.

This product is not nearly as thick as a concealer and it will never cake up.

As YSL states on their website “Touche Éclat is 8 hours of sleep in a pen” and I would say that I truly agree with that.  Of course, with the good, there has to be some bad.  The first issue I whole heartedly blame on YSL.  They sell this product under the “concealer” label.  However, it is not a concealer, it is a highlighter.  If you have light circles and red blotches, will it conceal them?  Absolutely!  But, the biggest review complaint that you will see on this product, beside the price, is that it does not “cure” big under eye circles and blemishes by itself.  THAT IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT A CONCEALER!  Too many people are purchasing this hearing it is a miracle and assuming it is a concealer, it is a highlighter.  It can lighten up and slightly cover light circles and blemishes, but that is just an added bonus of the product.

That being said, if  under eye circles are a problem area for you, I would suggest using this product as the last step on your makeup application instead of the first.  Lighten up a little bit on your normal concealer and use this on top.  You will be amazed by the outcome.

That brings us to the second issue.  The price.  It sells at a painful $40 for a small, yet beautiful, tube.  Is it worth it? I say, without a doubt.  This product can literally wake you up, at least from a visual point of view.  And, let’s be honest, if you know you look better, it makes you feel better.  The size, though very small for the price, is beyond portable.  You can easily slip it into a clutch for a fancy night out or a back pocket if you’re just going out to meet the girls.

This is one of the products I would say 100% spend the extra money.  It is worth it!
I hope you’re having a beautiful night!

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish

Ok- so yes, I know this has been around for a while.  But, MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish is something that needs to be written about and reviewed over and over again until everyone has it.  Also, their newest color, soft and gentle, is just amazing.

This product is so versatile.  It can be used as bronzer, blush or highlighter.  The beauty of Soft and Gentle is that it seriously works on all skin tones.  Personally, I use it as a highlighter since I haven’t been into bronzer lately.  It is the perfect highlighter.  I’ve used it on clients with very pale skin to clients with dark skin and it highlights then all beautifully.

It gives a stunning, dewey look.  Works on a natural look as well as a more dramatic look.  I’ve even used it as the highlighter after contouring.  Also, try spraying your brush with water and then using it.  It gives it a stronger, deeper look.

Here is a picture of the Soft and Gentle Color
Have a beautiful day!
